Responsibility is the licence to operate
Mining in Nigeria carries obligations to the people whose land, water and labour make it possible. We treat those obligations as operating requirements, not public relations.
Health & Safety
Nobody should be harmed by working for us. That is the standard, and it is measured rather than asserted.
Mining is a hazardous industry and Nigeria is no exception. We operate at the highest standards of safety to protect all our assets, including our most valuable one — our people.
We document and observe protocols for hazard identification, safe working procedures, competency-based training, personal protective equipment issued and enforced, and incident reporting.
Environment
Land that is disturbed is land that must be returned to use. Rehabilitation is factored into our development plans from commencement, not deferred to the end of it.
Our environmental management protocols cover water use and discharge, dust and noise, waste rock and tailings handling, and progressive rehabilitation of worked ground. Where we operate on historically disturbed land, we proactively take on the responsibility of rehabilitation as part of our work programme.
Our People
A Nigerian company employing Nigerians, training them to assume skilled and specialised roles, and to develop continuously.
We aim to recruit locally wherever the skills exist and to train where they do not.
Host Communities
Our host communities are the custodians of the land, water and labour that make the operation possible, and have a claim on its benefits.
A responsible and proactive approach to community relations is the most effective tool to ensure the security and sustainability of mining operations. We embed this philosophy into our operations at every stage.
Responsible Sourcing
International commodity buyers, sellers, and intermediaries are increasingly being required to prove where material originated, not just what it assays. We have incorporated traceability protocols into our operations to facilitate this. Our position as a structured, mechanised producer of concentrates and refined metals from our own mines means that we are one of the few sources of fully traceable metals in Nigeria.
- All material sourced from licensed ground.
- Chain of custody documented from pit to port.
- Alignment with OECD Due Diligence Guidance.
- No child or forced labour, in our operations or our supply chain.
