Sn
Tin
Promethean produces high-grade tin concentrate from alluvial and pegmatite-hosted deposits in several locations. The primary ore of cassiterite in Nigeria is cassiterite (SnO2).
Roughly half of world tin goes into solder for electronics. The balance is split between tinplate, chemicals, lead-acid batteries and alloys including bronze and pewter.
Pb·Zn
Lead & Zinc
Lead and zinc are recovered from galena and sphalerite, produced as separate flotation concentrates. Promethean’s lead-zinc position is primarily at exploration stage.
Zinc is used principally for galvanising steel, with die-casting alloys and chemicals taking the balance. Lead demand is dominated by lead-acid batteries, with the remainder in radiation shielding, cable sheathing and alloys.
Li
Lithium
Lithium occurs in Promethean’s licence areas as spodumene and lepidolite within rare-metal pegmatites.
Lithium chemicals are the primary input to rechargeable battery cathodes and electrolytes. Smaller volumes go into ceramics, glass and lubricating greases.
REE
Rare Earths
Rare earth minerals — principally monazite and xenotime — occur as heavy minerals alongside cassiterite in the Plateau belt.
Rare earth elements are essential to permanent magnets for motors and generators, and to catalysts, phosphors and polishing compounds.
Au
Gold
Promethean is developing several gold projects in Nigeria’s key gold jurisdictions, with some at an advanced stage.
Gold demand is dominated by jewellery and investment, with industrial use concentrated in electronics contacts and connectors.
